PODERE SANTA FELICITA – TOSCANA

Podere Santa Felicita is a particularly intriguing winery located in the splendid Casentino valley in the province of Arezzo. The winegrower bet on the oenological potential of Pinot Nero in this region and on the revival of a local grape variety called Abrostine. The person who stood at the cradle of the winery was the oenologist and agronomist Federico Staderini. In 2002 he took up the art of winemaking and in just a few years’ time he managed to produce wines that please even the most discerning palates.

The domain follows the strict rules of biodynamic agriculture while preference is given to a manual approach throughout all production stages, from winemaking to bottling to labelling. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in open wooden barrels between 5 and 7 hl in size. The grapes are partly destemmed manually and foot-trodden, and partly vinified in carbonic maceration in whole bunches.

Podere Santa Felicita’s wines are unfiltered and aged in barrels for 15 to 18 months.
